a few of my frags are from the middle of a large colony and they are as tall as they are wide. I'm wondering how close i can cut down the bottom of the frag to the polyps. here is a picture for an example to help under stand my problem.

i would like to get the skeleton small as possible so that the corals can start growing more easily. thanks for input

on this one my question is on the micromussa in the middle.

the coral will grow down the skeleton.

if you cut too close to the polyp, the skeleton can break once the polyp opens, causing infections.

if you wanted to trim it down a little bit though, a wet band saw would work (inland)

or a dremel if you are careful.

i will be using a dremel with diamond blade to do the cutting, im wondering what an acceptable amount would be, half of what is there? only 1/4 maybe? i understand it will grow as it is, i just feel it will grow better, faster, and look better as a colony eventually if its not such an odd shape
