IM GOING FROM A 90 GALLON TANK WITH A 20 GALLON SUMP, TO A 125 WITH A 20 GALLON LONG FRAG TANK, TWENTY GALLON REFUGE AND A 30 GALLON SUMP FOR THE SKIMMER AND FILTER MEDIA. IF I USE THE SAND, ROCK FROM THE 90 GALLON AND THE WATER. WILL THE TANK RECYCLE CUASE I WILL HAVE TO ADD 80 MORE GALLONS OF WATER. OR SHOULD I DO 15 GALLON WATER CHANGES OUT OF THE 90 GALLON EACH WEEK, FOR A MONTH TO MAKE 60 GALLONS I CAN PUT IN THE 125 AND IT WOULD ONLY BE 20 GALLONS OF FRESH SALTWATER I WOULD HAVE TO ADD. I HAVE ALOT OF SPS AND DONT WANT TO LOSE ANY OF THEM. SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS GUYS.

thank you josh

I did the same thing when going from my 30 to 70. Take all the lr and everything uve got, save all filtr meda, and let it sit for about 2 weeks for safey.

How long do you have until you have to move tanks?

going to to do it in the next 6 weeks. but really want to know what im doing so i dont lose any acros. thanks josh

If the new tank is going to be in a different spot then you can go about it this way:

Preform 20gl water changes every week on your 90gl. Either store the water in the new tank or in a garbage can. Make sure to add a piece of Live Rock along with a heater and a powerhead. Over the next 6 weeks you should have 120gl of water ready. Add the 120gl along with whatever you need from the 90gl.

When I moved everything from my old 120gl to my new 225gl it was a pain. It was rough because the new tank was in a new house. I moved water 30gl at a time over to the new tank. Eventually I had enough water and rock in the new tank to begin moving everything over. I am happy to report that not one coral or fish was lost in the move. :D
