Help: HQI ballast with medium base socket?

Just purchased this bulb for a frag grow tank: 65K 150watt Metal Halide Bulb

Planned on overdriving it with a HQI ballast (not electronic, standard)

Didn't realize it was a medium base :hmm5:

So....I plan on putting a mogul/medium base adapter on the mogul socket that's connected to the pendant. But it won't arrive for 3-4 days. In the interim, is there any danger in running the bulb off a typical medium socket clamp fixture with the HQI ballast until the adapter arrives? Is using the adapter safe? I know overdriving the bulb isn't recommended, but beyond that, is there any other safety concerns related to the temporary and permanent design?

Thaught all se bulbs that size are supposed to be 175W. 250W radiums are ment to be run on an hqi ballast so it all depends on what the bulb was spec to run at.

Funny I had been mulling over picking up a few of these as well. 20 a bulb ishard to resist.

I didnt notice that either about the socket.

Planned on running them on hqi as well. May shorten the life a little.
