Help ID - Juvenile French or Gray/Grey Angel???

Please provide your comments as to whether you believe these to be Juvenile Gray/Grey Angels or Juvenile French Angels. Please provide comments on why you believe it is one over the other.

Greys. IIRC the juv French has yellow line that encircles the caudal fin.

It looks like Grey's but I could be wrong. But I think you got some Grey's

Just Dave is correct. Those are Grey's.

100% sure there grays. U can tell by the clear part of the back fin the French doesn't have it.

First of all, thanks for everyone's input. You all just saved me some money/space for fish that I want.

Second, there are actually more than just a pair. Probably about eight in total.

Third, no, they don't belong to me. I took the picture at the LFS. While I was there, I was reading the Michael Scott pocket book on Marine Fish and I couldn't conclude 100% from the pictures in the book. The description did lead me to think it may have been a Gray Angel, which is the reason why I held back my purchase for the time being.

So thank you to you all once again.

I'd say they were Cortez Angels. Thats what we call them in Europe, anyway - unless Grey is just another name for them...

Juvi Cortez angels have yellow AND blue stripes on a black body:

Actually, Cortez Angels have a blue stripe too, I had one many many moons ago.

Seriously? My atlas by Axelrod and Burgess shows photos of both paru and arcuatus with a yellow edge to the caudal fin... I swear it is the same fish in both photos. Is it possible the greys start off with a yellow edge and then loose it by a certain size?

I got my French when he was around 3 inches. Now he's around 8. Will try to post a pic soon.
