Help ID please

is this a non photosynthetic coral? anyone know what this is. i glues it in a cave and it started to deteriorate.now ive got it sitting in the sand not sure how to bring it back to looking better.

It is dying.. Not easy one..

It is a orange fan sponge...

Not knowing what it is you probably let it touch air right? That will kill sponges fast.

is therer anything i can do to save it? guy at the store let it hit air when he bagged it..

Cut of any parts that turn white and mushy looking, they are unrecoverable. Hopefully you will have some live sponge left after that.
