Was at the liveaquaria open house a couple months back and picked up a nice orange zoa rock, orange because my daughter loved it.....but anyway I was redoing a couple rocks to reduce flow to my elagance coral and spun the zoa around. Only to find this

Bright green with red polyps....very small about 3/16"x1/4", trying to ID so I can figure out how I can keep this little guy going.

If it's brightly colored and the polyps are out... I'd leave it be! It must be happy in that spot to have grown and still be colorful after a couple months.

Sorry I can't help that much on WHAT it is exactly. Any chance you could get a closer photo? Is it growing along the surface of the rock, or branching out? What do the polyps look like?

Polyps are tiny, in that little piece there are about 10 of them. Once I noticed the little guy, it was right on the edge of the zoas so I needed to get the two separated so they would overgrow it.

It is growing along the rock. The base is a very smooth and like I said bright green....I'll try and get a better picture.

I am going to guess a green pocillipora. I had a big colony spawn and ended having literally a hundred little pocis. They all started as a small bright green dot that encrusted before they shot up branches. Look pretty similar to your second pic.
