Help ID this critter please.

I turned on the lights in my tank this morning, and there are two of these critters crawling along the glass. They can move at a pretty good speed and both went looking for a hiding spot when the lights came on. They are about 3/4" long and 1/3" wide when moving around. There is what feels like a hard shell on the back. So, be they good or evil and what might they be.

Correct and yes they are good algae eaters.

I saved one from my skunk cleaner the other day.He was spinning it around and picking at it trying to eat it.dont know if I saved it or not it was still moving the last time i seen it.I need all the algae control I can get.

I looked at a couple good photos online, and that is exactly what they are.
I am always amazed at what will just pop up in a salt aquarium. Fresh water tanks never have the explosion of life you see in salt.
