help identify clam or mussel

so today I bought this cool red sponge that was attached to what I thought was Live rock. Well, shortly after placing it in the tank the "rock" opened and a foot came out and moved itself and seems to have attached to the rock and is staying open. It also has some small cup corals on it as well as the purple plant looking stuff. Did I get a bonus or a problem to come? Should I move this type of clam to the sand bed or leave it on the rocks? Thanks

No problem, it's either a Turkey Wing or another clam in the family Arcidae. It will probably be better off the way you have it than trying to move it. You can find them stuck around on rocks at odd angles.

Beautiful sponge there! I noticed you also appear to have a mini anemone on that piece of rock? It would be the coral skeleton looking pockmark to the right on the first picture. If I am right I have a similar one in my aquarium.

Thanks, it makes for a pretty interesting piece in the tank, not to mention it was only $20. I already have a Maxi clam in there and feed that, so hopefully it makes it. As far as the small anemone goes I was worried about that being a pest but I think it may be cup coral. Please correct my if I am wrong. there are about five of them on it.
