help identify please

i have 2 patches of this stuff.. one of them on one rock is probably around 1/4 of an inch round and 1/8th of an inch thick its dark red and looks a tiny bit bushy and i have another patch of it on another rock about 3x the size of it. Ill try and get pics later today. Ive caught my emerald crab munching on it. just curious if i should just remove it or what it is. Thanks

Maybe you could try asking the guy who posted this thread if he found out what his was. Maybe it's the same thing? Could you post a picture?
