I cherry picked a price of live rock , and a few weeks later I had these things growing everywhere in the tank . Any idea what it is ?

If you can remove the rock it's on easily then just burn it off with a cigarette lighter. This only takes a few seconds to do.

NEVER BOIL LIVE ROCK. It can cause any palytoxin to become airborne. Sk8er has a great thread stikied on the top of the Beginners forum.

You could take it out of the water for a couple of days. Do not do anything to heat the rock.

Yes, aiptasia can sting and irritate corals so they wont open. I have a large piece of GSP in my tank and every once in a while a little area roughly the size of a quarter will not open 9 times out of 10 there is a little aiptasia starting to grow. Get rid of them when ever you see them before you have too many...I've been fighting mojano for months now.

The file fish will take care of just about any other soft polyp type coral in the tank along with the aiptasia. Kalk paste and peppermint shrimp have worked for me with 100% success rate. At one point I had hundreds, haven't seen a single one in 6 months or more
