Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me ID what caused a fish death.
Just this morning I lost a bandit angel in one of my quarantine tanks. I had the fish for about 2 weeks. A few days ago the fish developed several white cotton like balls on one side near the head and down the lateral line. There were areas that were also red and inflamed. It still ate well and acted normal. I started treating with Kanaplex thinking it was bacterial or fungal. After inital Kanaplex dosing the white balls went away but the inflammation remained. The fish was very active and ate well including last night. This morning the fish was not active and just swimming in one area and breathing short rapid breaths. It died a few hours later.
Any idea on what caused this? The fish was in a 40 gallon quarantine tank. You can see the inflamed area in the attached pic, right above the black stripe.
