Hi all newb here looking for help getting an ID. Been having these polyp looking critters growing for a while and they are spreading and getting larger. I have trouble getting zoa frags I have bought to thrive but these things seem to love my water. They aren't beautiful but not ugly either and look nice under the night lights. I recently found some aiptasia and shot it with boiling water so will see how that works out but now I'm getting worries these polyps may be something bad. These are about 1/2" across but some others are as large as 1". TIA for any help provided

Palythoa. They are similar to zoanthids. Normally not considered a pest, but they can eventually take over a tank. Just be careful handling them, as some people have a very bad reaction to the toxins from them.

Thanks for the good news. It's one of the few things except a toadstool and my nems that seem to thrive in my tank so I will let them grow and just try to keep them contained to the one area
