I just noticed this split in the sillicone at the seems. Glass tank.. Tank is 6 weeks old.

I know the pic is bad. The tank is eurobraced, phew! And that the outside seam. seam, not the one bonding the panes of glass, I hope.

Ive got the call in. How terrible I just sank 1k of livestock into it.

why do you think the tank is about to fall apart? what are we looking at? can you get a picture that is a bit farther away and one that is more clear?

Honestly, i don't think anyone would be able to tell anything from that pic. Best advice would be find someone in your area that knows a thing or two about tanks to come over and inspect it. Or... get us another picture :D

Ok new pic

Ok new pic

This is the front right corner of my tank. On the lower left, the inside seal (the big black strip) there is a small, 1 cm, split from the bottom up. I drew a red line above on the top where it ends. It does not appear on the inside of the tank, so no leak, and the bond between the two glass panels seems intact. I am worried about it getting worse. The Set up is 6 weeks old, I have cycled and just stocked the tank.

Is this a big deal? Should I eat the 500-1000 in sand, salt, fish and coral loss and get a new one?

thks, natty.

Natty, if you feel the tank is bad. Which I had a simikiar issue about 10 years ago.
1. Go talk to where you purchased it.
2. Call the manufacturer, send them pics, explain problem calmly but let them know it is stocked.
I had similiar issue, Retailer ordered new tank in with manufacturers approval. I bought several rubbermaid tubs and in 1 day emptied tank into tubs, returned tank, brought home new tank, replumbed (better then the first time) and restocked. With zero problems to livestock. I have moved a tank the same way.
This was a 125. I know it was a pain but I felt much better knowing the tank was secure...Hope this helps, Maybe if you have a local club, someone can loan you tubs, cnas and buckets to house inhabitants during transfer...Good Luck..
