Hi Guys,

I purchased a long nose hawkfish on sunday to add it to my 30 G FOWLR.

All the water parameter is under control
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10 to 20 ppm

I dripped for about a hour and introduced to my tank.

It ate the frozen Hikar Mysis shrimp on sunday night however after that since now its not eating anything and also staying at the corner of the tanks. It doesnt look to be breathing heavily but i am worried coz its not eating anything for the past couple of days.

I tried Frozen Brian Shrimp, Frozen Mysis, Flake food, Nori sheet.

I also tried soaking the Brian shrimp and Mysis in Seachem Garlic Guard but didnt seem to work.

I am now worried i may loose this fish.. its really disappointing coz after adding this one i lost my most favorite six line wrasse and dominion damsel. :bawling::bawling::bawling::bawling:

What is the SG of your tank? What is the SG of the water from where the fish was purchased? What is the stocking of this tank (other fish and inverts)

My SG is 1.026 and the SG of LFS is 1.025 as per the guys in the store.

I currently have
2 Occilaris clown Fish
1 Fire goby
2 yellow tail damsels (Breathing heavily)
1 cleaner shrimp
1 blood red fire shrimp

He just moved couple of inches and again leaned to my live rock. he is not breathing heavily though.

30 Gallon is the recommended size for long nose hawkfish.

i watched this one for about 3 to 4 months in a LFS and did good research before buying . in many forums and sites the character of this fish is not a great swimmer but it loves to eat a lot of brine shrimp and Mysis(Frozen) and live brine as well.

the only thing i haven't tried is the live .. the LFS didnt really feed live food .

Hmmm. That is pretty weird. You also don't have anything in there which is overly aggressive. In my experience when adding new fish to the system they sometimes take a few days to adjust and get used to the new environment. But usually feeding gets them to come out and be more active. Doesn't explain the death of the other fish though. Disease or maybe some other element in the water. Perhaps run some carbon and do a water change.

I did a water change as soon as i found the dead fishes however before and after water change i dont see any change in the water parameters
PH -8
Ammonia 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 10 to 20 PPM

at this point i guess all i can do is wait..the good thing is my yellow tail damsels recovering well i can see them moving now..

Last fish was Long Nose hawkfish and it was added on Sunday(July 19th 2015).
The next day morning i saw Six Line wrasse dead with some signs of possible fight.
On same day(Monday ) Dominion DamSel died and the yellow tail damsels were breathing heavily and really scared(Hiding under the live rocks)

Current situation: RIP LongNose Hawkfish<did not eat at all other than the sunday night>
Two yellow tail damsels are swimming better than before and breathing is getting normal not eating though.
