A week ago I ordered 2 baby maximas. One was gold and one was blue. Here is a picture 2 days ago.

Let me start by saying the tank is very stable and about 9 months old 135G. It's mostly an SPS tank and everything else is perfectly healthy.

I put these guys in a low flow area with a lot of light. I have bowl fed them phyto everyday!

The gold one is really pretty and the expansion is great.

The blue one however looked like this today.

As you can see the bottom half in the pic is pretty retracted. I have checked for snails and other pests a few times since I've had them and have found none.

Any suggestions/ treatment ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Freshwater dips are supposed to be good for pinching...never done one though. You might want to post a thread on the best way to go about it.

I would FW dip it. Do a search on RC for that, you will find a lot of info. Temp match and pH match a bowl of RO water, place the clam in it. For a baby clam, I don't think I'd go for longer than 20 minutes, you could dip larger clams for longer. I just dipped my baby Maxima for 20 min and it fully recovered from pinching within days. I dipped my 5" Maxima for 25, and it fully recovered but it took weeks before full recovery.

BTW FW dip is not 100% foolproof, if your clam is too far gone the dip will kill it (although it may die anyways). Just so you know, there is risk involved, but many (including myself) have had great success with it.

Good luck.
