help me choose sump size

I am going to be upgrading my 20g reef in april, and I will be using the sump as a holding tank for a showt amount of time, what would be the largest sump that could be fit in a 65 or 75g tank stand? I was thinking a 40br or a 55g.

Well, that all depends on the dimensions of the stand... If it is a standard 75 (48"x18"), then you are going to have some trouble fitting a 55g (48"x12") inside unless you have a door on the side. The 40br (36"x18") is going to give you about the same trouble, but in the other direction. Obviously, you can't fit a standard 55g in a standard 65g stand (36"x18") and it would be extremely difficult to fit a 40br in it because it has the same foot print.

So, if its a 75g, I would go with a 30g (36"x12"x16"). If its a 65g, I would say a 20L or 29g would work well.
