Trust Me I'm an Engineer
Hey everyone, I have been practicing with my D3000 (first DSLR) for a while now, I have a pretty wide variety of shots, and I am looking for suggestions for improvement (hopefully constructive:idea:)

1. Handheld unfortunately, didn't bring my tripod on the hike.

Mostly the stock lens and a 55-200 Nikkor
Thanks for your help!

Eric,
I've been lurking on the photography forum for a little while now trying to figure out just where I want to jump in on a camera. Your selection of the D3000 sent me off to investigate and I found that it is supposed to be a great camera for the first time DSLR buyer, and Nikons least expensive model. The one feature that stood out to me was something called the "guide mode". As a new DSLR user would you say that this guide mode is very helpful or not so much?

Thanks

I personally prefer just experimenting a lot and reading online, but I can see where it might be helpful for some people, just depends on how you learn best. I am very happy with the camera overall though.

as i see it, the problem with the guide mode is if you just do what it tells you without thinking about WHY it is telling you to do that, you're never going to learn. The WHY is much more important than the HOW, in my humble opinion.
