I have 2 clowns. Both seem to affected by this problem. They are eating fine and acting normal. See Pic below.

Does anyone know what this is? I have looked at pictures all over the internet, and have not seen or read anything that describes this condition. They have no other spots on them that I can see. Just fin loss. I would call it fin rot, but I could not find anything like that as a disease. I have had these fish for about 8 months and have had no new additions in 2 months.

I checked water params (that I could)

Salt 1.022
NH 0
Nitrite 0
Calcium 420
KH 7 (A little low)
PH 8.1

I'm gonna have full tests at LFS.

Thanks,
Tom

It looks like finrays that have been stripped of skin and fleshy material. My first guess is a bacterial infection that probably started with a wound to the fin. I would get the fish some antibiotics pronto and I think the infection is about to become systemic. Fucus with some Maracyn-Two added to it, nitrofurazone or furanace would be good choices. Beta glucan added to the food could definately help.

The behavior does not indicate brooklynella, but it is always suspect when clownfish are involved.
