help me identify this flat shelled snail PICS

I just saw this in my tank and was able to remove it, i am curious as to whether or not it is a snail that should be left in, or taken out of my tank.

Looks like the lid to a turbo snail.Shouldn't hurt either way,it isn't alive.

i have a mexican turbo, what do you mean the lid, like the edge of its shell? i couldnt tell if it were a snail or what, just wnated to be cautious

I dont think that's a lid to a turbo's shell.

ya, i looked at my turbo, and it looked normal... so this thing isnt going back in, whatever it is

It is the snail's operculum--the 'lid' that closes off the opening of the shell.

Also looks to me just like the lid of a turbo.
I thought that before reading the first post.

If your turbo is'nt dead it could have been in the sand already or something.

You have a dead snail somewhere. No idea what kind tho. When snails go into their shells they use that 'lid' to seal themselves in, if it's gone there is no protection for the snail. I would guess it died first then the lid fell off.

Yeah you see that when they die but gfk says the turbo looks normal which is why I said maybe it was in the sand already. Meaning from another dead snail.
