Sorry for the long post, but could really use some input.
Currently running a 140 display with roughly 100-150lbs. of LR. Several powerheads in the tank for flow. I have a 36x18x18 sump and a Reeflo ORCA 250 skimmer. My sump is in the basement and I use a Mag 18 for the return. The drain in the tank is 1.5"
I am looking to redo my filtration system and add a chaeto fuge and a tank for just LR or perhaps a DSB also.
I have a 24x24x18 that I was going to use for the chaeto fuge, either lite by a 150w or 175w MH. That would be BB with perhaps a few little piles of rubble rock, but more importantly the chaeto will be rolling in the water from powerheads.
For the LR filter, I have a 75 gal. stock tank that I would use. I'm thinking maybe a DSB in the bottom with a spray bar blowing across the sand gently, LR suspended off the DSB. Or would not using the DSB and just putting more LR in there be a better idea? What kind of flow through should I consider for either situation? And why type of circulation should I be looking at as well? Lighted or not?
I plan to feed the skimmer directly from the drain, as well as feed the chaeto fuge and LR filter. All would drain back to the sump. Flow through on those will help determine my return pump.
This is the equipment I have on hand, so plumbing everything in would be rather inexpensive. So trying to make what I have work, yet try to set it up so it can do the best job it can.
Does this sound like a feasable plan? Any suggestions? Changes? Advice?
I drew up a pretty picture in Paint but don't think I can put it up without it being too small.
