Help me pick a vacation

how about some type of cruise?? i live in south florida and we have cruises leaving outa here all the time to all differant places

I'm working on a trip to Compass Point on Grand Cayman. Ask me again in November. :)

St. John (USVI) was excellent for snorkeling. Very good beach access, neat keys to swim out and around, etc.
I did not dive there.

We spent 2 weeks in Puerto Rico in June/July 06. The diving and snorkeling were fantastic. If you want to get away from it all, go to the PR island of Culebra, where there is a fantastic marine sanctuary easily accessed from shore for snorkeling. However, also make an overnight trip to Vieques, another of the PR islands, for a night swim in the Bioluminescent Bay, said to be the best in the world. It truly was magical. Watch for the wild horses on Vieques! We will spend a week on Culebra and a week on Vieques next summer.

I just spent two weeks at the Fantasy Island Resort in Roatan, Honduras. It was amazing. If you are laid back enough that you can deal with sleeping accomodations that some would consider less than ideal (windows w/o locks, undrinkable tap water, ants), the resort is fantastic. The diving was amazing, but it would also be great for snorkeling. A gazebo that is 200 yards from the rooms lets you enter the water at a reef wall. The wall stretches a good couple hundred yards and is as shallow as 5 or 6 ft. in some places. Amazing marine life. It's been my favourite destination I've been to.
