Help me pick macros for my 180sps tank

Setting up a 20g next to my sump that feeds in to the system. Tank is 180 sps stocked. My question is, what should I use for macros that is going to provide the best benefits for my tank. I know absolutely nothing about macros and marine plants except the very very basics. Please school me on the benefits and recommendations for the best ones to add. Thanks in advance. :wave:

What is your goal for the macros? Is it just nutrient export, or are you looking for display types?

Display macros are nice to look at and not always as industrious as their more "refugium bound" siblings. Cheato is a typical macro used for nutrient export. Certain kinds of halymenia (not sure if I spelled that correctly) are more deocrative - less aggressive growers, but nicer colors and growth patterns.

If you have an SPS tank, be wary of introducing certain macros to the display as they can inhibit coral growth and be quite intrusive. Avoid most Calurpa sp at all cost.
