Help me with an overflow design

I am looking into designing a 280, but wanted some ideas on how the overflows should be.

I want it to be on the outside of the tank, but I don't what the dimensions should be.

Should the drains be 1.5" and returns 1"

2" drains will do a better job IMHO, allows you to use a bigger return and branch it off into a manifold - saves on unsightly and bulky Powerheads, not to mention money and power consumption, heat, danger to inhabitants of tank etc. I would leave all the pipes a the same diameter personally and use eggcrate mounted on an acrylic panel as an overflow
