Help me with my skimmer

Hi guys I made a skimmer similar to the undertheradar ( from nano-reef.com) version.


The thing is that its not taking out foam. I made a two hole injector


I have some pictures available and a VIDEO too , for you guys to see it and tell me what do you think is wrong. ( or maybe I need more patience )

How old is it. skimmers have a 1 week break in period before they make much if any foam. I might add some stress coat to the tank, that always really boosts skimming.

Oh , this one has been running for a day. It has a 480 galon/ hour bomb attached . Maybe I just need to be patient.

What is a stress coat ?

Today the skimmer started making foam, not perfect but its something . Take a look

I made one similar to yours and never got it to work right. Yours has more foam in it than mine ever did though.

how did you made it ? and what powerhead did you use to inject the water???


Today when I got back from university , the foam was like this . And the collection cup got some stuff too

I'd really like to see more pics when you get skimmate. I'm thinking of making one of these for my 10/20 fuge tank setup.
Also, I'm assuming you have the recirc mod done to it? (didn't watch the video)
By the way, what did you use to glue the seams? I can't seem to find weldon 3 or 4 (which ever it is) anywhere around a 500 mile radius of my place lol..

Hi , This skimmer is very primitive. Its not complicated to make, the system works like a remora , with an injector.

To glue the seams I just used cloroform and it seems to be working ok , since its in sump and there is no big preasure inside the device.

I'm assuming this cloroform stuff is reef safe? lol
