Help mounting Lumen Max Elites in canopy

Is it ok to mount the reflector directly to the canopy when using a 400w bulb?

I would use some sort of spacer so air can get around it, like a stack of washers- a half inch is fine.

Well the quick disconnect plate already spaces it off the stand by about 1/4". I just hooked that plate directly to the wood of my canopy.

I have 400w MH, and even after hours of running it, that disconnect bracket doesn't get hot for me. I do have a couple icecap fans.
