it's open in the pic, do you have a pic of it in distress??

also your sig is a bit off, frozen brine are excellent food for fresh water fish too :)

Well, he used to be alot more open and has never closed this much (except during the night) Never thought about that with my sig thanx. The sad thing is i used to feed them to my freshies.

do you feed the brain? feeding normally entices tentacle protrusion and once it eats tissue tends to be fuller till it's digested.

on the brine shrimp, i used freshly hatched for yrs when i was raising angelfish, mollies, and guppies. they work great for both feeding the fry and the adults and sub adults for keeping the brood stock in shape.

Brine shrimp itself is pointless unless freshly hatched

enriched brine are very nutritional, the baby and sub adults are high in fat content but adults are very high in protein. i raise mine on Nannochloropsis and add about 10% Isochrysis or Tetraselmis to the mix 12hrs before feeding them to the tank. the adults also love to eat enriched rotifers which increases their nutritional value before feeding.

Maybe if you are raising them yourself and feeding live brine that have been enriched. Frozen brands that have not been enriched are about 5% protein and 90+% moisture. Most people feed frozen brine. I feed frozen PE Mysis, 69% protien and 0% moisture!

Sorry to be off topic:D

frozen BBS are on average 6% Protein, 2% Fat
Frozen Adult BS are on average 9% Protein 1% Fat
Most frozen Mysis are 10% Protein 1% Fat

Piscine Energetics only advantage over enriched brine (yes frozen ones) is they are higher in Omega 3s

PE is 69% protein with out any enrichment and has none of the packing juiced used in most brands. I will just let this one go as we all have our own opinions. BTW I love Live Baby Brine just not frozen adult;)

The analysis on my bag of PE mysid says 69.5% Protien and 8.3% crude fat :strange:

But the brain looks okay to me, is it fairly new?

i think you both miss the point, the PE is packaged Mysis with little water added, most other brands are mostly water, when you take the water away from both to where they is only Mysis, they all have the same protein and fat, the added water is where you loose the percentages in the math, it's 10 to 1 protein to fat just in different concentrations because of the added water.

PE around here is 10 bucks for 8oz
Hikari is 8 bucks for 16 oz

once the 80% water is removed from the Hikari it's about 20% less Mysis then the PE at 20% less cost so it's tit for tat
