Help! my devil's hand leather shrunk

I've had a beautiful Devil's hand leather which has been healthy and growing new "fingers". All was great. Recently it stopped extending it's polyps, then it's color went from yellow to green, and now it has shriveled to about 1/2 of its original size.

The only water parameter I can find bad was low alkalinity (about 6.5 - 7dKH). I am propping up the alkalinity now, I don't see any response.

What more can I do?

Ive found they are very perticular about temp....no big variations?? Also it seems about once a month, it seems to not extend its pollups for about three or four days on a preety regular basis. How long has it been doing this?
