I bought a used tank. The guy set it up with new live sand and live rock with his cultured water. Slowly over a three week period the fish started dying. The clowns had Ich and something called brucahnella? Anyway after the last fish died he did major water changes 50% then another 50%. The I went 7 weeks without any fish to let the disease run its course. Then I slowly added fish again. And it's happening all over again. The have been dying off. The blue tang and yellow tang got Ich, the wrasse starting darting around the tank and rubbing on coral, rocks. So I pulled them out and quaranteened them. I have been treating them with Ich Attack. Now the mandarian goby died without any signs. But the clowns are still looking ok and the purple fire fish as well.
I took a water sample to a different fish store yesterday and the only thing they noted were the ammonia was at 0.2 and the Nitrates were at 10 ppm. They stated to treat the entire tank but I have expensive corals and read that nothing is really reef safe for corals. They recommend sticking with fish that do not have scales.
How can I cure the tank of what ever is in it. It has been checked for stray voltage and that's not it. No spikes in parameters or temp, Just something in the water.
