Help needed!!!

I posted this on the newbie board and I'll post here as well. I just bought a used MH canopy with 2 MH bulbs. After powering up the lights one of the bulbs goes off after about 30 seconds or so.
It will come back on and then 30 seconds later go off again.
Is this a sign that the bulb is dead or could there be bigger issues there with the ballasts and power supply. If the bulb is dead that is ok I knew the unit had a year or so on it if its something else I need to correct it fast.

Sounds more like a ballast issue than a bulb issue to me.

Im no lighting expert but I have had to have ballasts repaired before that were behaving similarly.......minus the coming back on part.......
