Hey everyone,
I just bought a cleaner wrasse and properly acclimated him and noticed he was acting funny in the container. I placed him in the tank and he constantly goes to the surface like he is gasping for air....he keeps getting sucked into my over flow box...

He was eating mysis and brine at the fish store...

Does anybody know what is going on?

ammonia poisoning?

How long was shipping time sometimes they do that directly out o fhte bag after a long shipment. increasing waer aeartion in the Q tank and a direct introduction (no acclimation) is preferred in that case. if it was a short transport time then something might be wrong in the tank I would check it for ammonia and nitrites... are there any other fish in there? how are they acting?

Sounds like possible ammonia burn to the gills, usually this happens in the shipping bag. I think as maroun.c suggested, the best thing to do is aerate the water very well and make sure the tank is ammonia free.
