Help Noob mistake

two days ago and after realized one of my hairy mushrooms split and was on the back of my tank. I scraped it off which it was pretty stuck and it ripped up I sucked most of it out. But now two days later one of my clowns died could the mushroom of poisoned my water. The tank is an 8 gallon biocube

I haven't heard of that, but it could have played a role. 8g is not a very forgiving size to work with; water quality can quickly become an issue. Unless your clowns were well bonded with a clear dominant female, I think a problem might have stemmed from there too.

I bought them together and they have been in the tank for about 3 months

Oh yeah just thought about this there is maybe a 2in sand bed I have 4 nassarious snails in it what else could I put in it to turn the sand. Maybe a fish since I have only 1 clowns that when it gets bigger will be going in the 40 breeder that im setting up
