First up thank you for looking at this thread. All right I went for the first time to Exotic fish and corals in Milford, CT and even though it wasn't a big store they had a large collection of corals. Bob the owner ending up selling me a hand size green star polyp for 24.00. The problem is that the mat has one side that is purple and one side is a very pale pink hue. Which side is actually the polyps? The other item I purchased was a half dollar size purple and green hammer coral for $20 and 2 different kinds of zoa's, one pink and one yellow for $22.00. Thank you

The purple encusted size with the little dots are right side up. Star polyps are sensitive to water quality and a good indicator of not so ideal conditions, FYI in case they don't open up after a day or so.

The pinkish hue is from the mat spreading and it will eventually grow into the purple mat. Just makesure the purple mat is facing up. The newly growing mat will be fine and it will re direct its growth path towards the light.
Put them in medium water flow with medium lighting.

Okay I'm going to leave it that way and see what happens by tommorrow morning. I shall update this thread. Thank you all for such quick reponses.
