I need to dose my tank for red bugs with interceptor and have been trying to catch my shrimp for a few days now. I have tried to do the water bottle thing with no luck, and have also been trying to net them at night with food and still no luck. I have caught all my crabs and one of the cleaner shrimp but I still have one more left and 2 more fire red shrimp. They are supper big and healthy and have been in the tank for around 2 years. So my question is does anyone know any tricks on catching these things, and if I cant get them out do you guys think they might survive?

well i dont understand why u cant catch them in a net? if you have a lot of rockwork i can understand that. i would be patient about the net.

or you can borrow my lionfish! lol jk

i wanna see how you end up catching them. im curious now

Catching a shrimp in a net is near impossible unless you have a reliable way of getting them out in the open. Even then you have to move quick.

My trick I've used is with a 20oz bottle. Cut the hard drinking lip off. Push in the "neck" facing the inwards. You can weigh it down with a small rubble rock and tie a piece of fishing like around the bottle. Place some food in of your choice (large pellets or meaty foods seem to work the best). I tried it just after the lights went out, checking the bottle every 15-20 minutes or so. I caught I think 8 of the 10 peppermint shrimps I had in that tank (was breaking it down) within an hour or two. I caught more than I actually thought I had alive.

My cleaner shrimp has always survived interceptor dosing...I'd say just dose without removing the shrimp.
