help on receding open brain...

i bought an open brain coral 7 days ago... it has 3 mouths... a portion of one side started to recede... it looks like the flesh is torn... my tank has fairly high flow but the corals in it are mostly LPS... i put the coral on the sand under 150w MH light... i would consider the flow on the coral to be moderate... nothing too forceful but it does jiggle the flesh of the coral... the frogspawn and hammer corals right above it are getting much more flow so i thought the open brain will do ok...

for now, i relocated it on the side of the tank... it's still getting some light but it is now shielded from much of the flow... any help would be appreciated...

I find a little flow helps. I had the same problem and the thing came right back. I find they are very hardy. My Blueface picked on it a lot and almost ate the whole thing. I put a cover on it and it came back!
Good luck with yours. Oh, and don't move it too much.

hi, it is getting flow in my tank... short of putting it under a rock, the coral will get flow in my tank... i don't have anything that will nip at it as the only potentian nipper is currently in the refugium...
