Help, Pinkish Spot on my maroon!

I am very new to reefing and have not set up a QT/Hosp tank due to not enough room which is why we're only on a 20g. I have purchased a maroon clown 2 days ago and he has just been very DOWN, the entire time I've had him.

After careful looking (which I should've done prior to buying) I have noticed a pinkish almost like tear in his first white stripe on one side. He has been very inactive and pretty much laying on side unless being chased by my hand.

I do not know much about Diseases for fish and would like to save this little guy.

Yes I know I didn't QT my fish and medicate them. Yes I know, please help me identify this problem and possibly give me some sources for medicine to use for him. He will be going in a 10G tank on Tuesday and that's earliest I can set one up for him.

Here's the best picture I could get of him

Parameters
Salinity 1.025
pH: 8
Am/Ni: 0
Nitrates: >5
Temp:76

Help me save this bullied clown!

Looks like a fungus to me.

That clown looks rough man. He won't make it till Tuesday.

Edit: on second look now I'm thinking its bacterial. You need to get him out of there and start an antibiotic.

I would do a course of antibiotics.

You could try some copper in case it is something else, but not at the same time.

Also, putting antibiotics in your display tank is not advisable. Afaik it will kill the nitrifying Bacteria and make you have to recycle your system again.

I would put him in a hospital tank by himself, use some prime as directed to keep the ammonia in check, and start him on some antibiotics.

I would not do any hypo or copper at this point. He does not look like he could handle it.

I'm getting a 10gallon hospital tank set up tomorrow. And I will jump on that anotbotic and hope he makes it until then. Thank you for the advice and I will keep you updated.

I really appreciate the help man. Thank you for going up and beyond looking for that stuff.

No problem friend. Keep me posted. I hope I am steering you the right way, like I said I'm no expert, but I would think if I was giving you inaccurate information one of the more experienced members would have corrected us by now, so we must be on the right track.

Make sure you watch the ammonia level in that little hospital tank. It can climb super quick.

It also might not be a bad idea to grab a small submersible UV to put in there to aid the antibiotic. You can get them pretty cheap <50 bucks I think.

Also, are any other critters showing any signs? It might be smart to change a large volume of water, 75% or so to help combat any that might be in your display.

Preventative wise, what is your water source? The biggest source of pseudomonas is from the tap I think. Certain types of pseudomonas can actually live in bleach, so chlorinated tap water doesn't kill it.

I wouldn't use UV in conjunction with an antibiotic, as it could denature the molecule and render it ineffective. I've had good luck with kanamycin, personally.

I use RODI salt mix from LFS and RODI to top off. And either way If the antibiotics doesn't kill what ever it is it will still boost his immune system. How often should I test the hospital water

There you go, someone with more experience and better advice.

As for testing in something as small as a 10g I would test it daily, if not more. Especially after feeds.

Well just a random update. Came home right now he's out and about swimming around. Still kinda struggling but he's swimming around and hanging out in my very young green star.

The green star has hosted him. He came out of the container is VERY active compared to day one and day 2 combined. He has developed 3 little dots on the same sit behind the Gil but has gotten a lot more active. Still isn't eating.

They might be part of the infection. It looks like there's some dots all over his body or maybe that's just the picture? I also see that his fins are torn which could mean parasitic infection and secondary infections are common to those.

Is this fish new?

I would set him up in the quarantine with a piece of live rock to seed it and dose antibiotics in the water since he's not eating, kanamycin, erythromycin etc

He ate last night, wasn't much but he had a few pieces. He's going into a a Hospital tank today and I have been suggest the kanamycin and have considered it.
