I'm building my dream tank(s) at home starting in about 2 months. One quick question I wanted input on. My current tank (office, 200g reef) is 6' long and 30" tall. That is about as tall as I can handle and still reach the bottom of the tank.

In my new 500g tank, I would like to order as 9.5' long x 36" wide x 34" tall. I have access from front and back.

Has anyone ever worked with a tank 34" tall? I reallize this will take some tools for maintenance. Is this a huge red-flag for anyone? Tank is being cut in about 2 weeks, so any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you going with a sandbed? How deep? what do you want to keep on the bottom? what wattage lights should prob use 400w

Whoops, great questions. Bare bottom with (4) 400w MH and (6) 5' VHO's. Tank will have plateus in aquascaping that allows for variety of corals (sps up top, low light lps down low). Thanks for the input.

I would stick w/ 30 inch deep. 34inch is going to be hard to work on ..400w MH are only good for 30 inch's . That is my 2cent's..

How about the same same length but go 48" deep and 26-28" high? I personally think you will regret anything over 30" high.

My tank is 32 and I have about two inches of sand I wouldn't go any deeper really hard to do anything on the bottom of the tank
And at that you need lots of top clearence to be able to work on it.
