My 75 gal mixed reef tank has only one fish a Clown. I think it's time for some more fishies. I've been looking and researching for a good combo WOW!! that's tough all the fish I really like will out grow my 75. Can any buddy help me with a stock list for my tank. I don't want it over stocked but full of life and lots of color. Thanks

We would have to know what appeals to you. I like anthias, flasher wrasses as an example. What appeals to you?

My list is long I'm loking for 2- larger fish mix of med to smaller ones
I like
Angels and dwarf Angels
Butterfies
Tangs
Triggers
some Blennys , gobys ,Wrasses

So for this is what I came up with
Tail spot Blenny
Caradinalfish (Pajama)
Firefish Goby
Yellow Watchman
Gold/ blue Neon Goby
Yellow Tang
Six line Wrasses

Skip the 6line. Too aggressive. Skip the tang, tank's too small. The other fish sound good. Try to pick fish that will occupy different parts of the tank.

ive had a sixline for the past 2 years and he is far from aggressive.he lives with 2 clowns and a purple firefish..i did get the sixline as a very small fish and added him last to the tank..id get your clown another clown friend..

Thanks for your help. Fist I'll get my QT set up then get another Clown. Should I get a clown of the same size or a smaller one be alright.

Get a smaller one of the same species.

50% of the threads I see about needing to remove a fish are about 6 lines. The other 50% are about damsels.

you can easily fit a yellow tang in a 75 gallon no problem, but the other fish you want will still overstock it. dwarf angels are great so are blennies gobies cardinals, clowns, anthias, theres a huge selection.

How about this list
2- clowns
1- spot Blenny
1-2- Caradina(Pajama)
2-M/F Firefish Gogy
1-Yellow Tang small one
Or is this over stocked? If it is I'll cut the Tang and add ???

if you want a tang, why not add a smaller tang? like a yellow eye kole tang or some other Bristletooth. A yellow tang might get too aggressive. IMO

plus one i did not even think of this and yellow eyed and kole tangs look way cooler than yellows.

Thanks I like the looks of the yellow eyed Tang and the tear drop Butterfly fish.
Here is another list I came up with I hope it would work.

2-Clowns
1- Yellow Eyed Tang and or Tear Drop Butterfly
1- Tail spot Blenny
2- Fire fish
2-Caradina (Pajamas) and or 2- Dragon Face pipe fish

I know a 75 is considered okay by many for Kole and Yellow Tangs. After seeing them swim in the ocean, I just don't think any tang belongs in less than a 6' tank. A dwarf angel would be a better choice IMO. But you will likely be fine from everything I've read.

You'll need to make sure your firefish are a male/female pair which can only be deduced from observing pair behavior in the LFS tank or buying a known pair online.

Pipefish can be challenging to keep fed. I would make sure your tank has been up and running for a while before adding the pipes. I think pajama cardinals would be a safer choice and easier.

Good luck.

Good advice but why add a tang to that sized tank? But if you do, bristletooth is the way to go.

skip the pipefish, then you have the whole issue of eeding and they are only supposed to be in a species tank or with seahorses or mandarins so they dont have any competition for food. also they need pods and brine shrimp.
