I still can't figure out the out of network access. Here's what I've done so far;

Disabled DHCP within Apex
Set Dlink router to forward Apex IP address
Set up DynDns account with home computer IP address
DynDns Updater on (should I shut this down?)
Using port 7**

I'm trying to access my apex by the following outside the network;

xxxxxxxx.dyndns.tv:7** ( with my chosen name)
http://xxxxxxxx.dyndns.tv:7**
http://xxxxxxxx.dyndns.tv

Works perfect inside the network but when outside I can't get the login to pop up.

Have I missed something, any suggestions.

There is a multitude of things that could be wrong. Post screen shots of the router fort forwarding page, the router status page, and the Apex network setup page. I'll PM you an email address to use if you'd prefer not to post all that publicly.

I just set this up on my controller...had similar issues.

The fix for me was to use a port above 1024...in alot of cases, local ISP's will block everything below 1024.

Try setting all the ports to 8080 or something like that...make sure the port forwarding setting in the router and the apex match on the port...that was also a mistake I made.

cool thanks for the tip. Ill try to see if bumping the port higher will allow me access.

I just got a chance to review the screenshots; I don't see anything wrong. I was going to suggest doing exactly as eohlin recommended... go with a port higher than 1026. Any 4-digit number you can easily remember should be good.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

:-/ Changed the port and still the same problem. Im using Uverse for my internet. Could that be an issue? Should I give them a ring and ask about open ports?

Glad to see I can follow instructions correctly but now im completely stumped..

Did you try that portforwarding tool I posted above....that will tell you in a few seconds if your ISP is blocking the ports or not.

Reboot everything too! I'd do the router and the apex if you can...who knows!! I never hurts!!

Also...what router are you using? On some routers, there are global settings that block port forwarding.

:-/ Heres what I got when I just tried the portcheck. Ive rebooted everytime I change something.

does this mean that specific port is locked out or have I not set this up correctly. Its weird russ mentioned everything looked correct before.. literally scratching my head about this.

I think the next step would be to call your ISP...

I had issues as well...but I was always able to ping my router.

You are entering the actuall IP address...not the dydns name, right? Just to eliminate any resolution issues.

Good luck!

Eric
