I have had my vertex omega 150 running in 7.5 in of water for a couple weeks now, hopefully broke in by now. I can not get this skimmer to work right. My setup is about 100 gallons total volume medium- heavy stock. At 7.5in my bubble are huge at the top with the valve almost closed. If i raise my sump level to 9 in and open the valve wide open then it seems to work a little better but a pretty wet skim, but a least the bubbles are smaller at the top, about pea sized. The venture is screwed out one turn, haven't really messed with it much.
How deep are others running this skimmer and what size bubbles should I be looking for where the cup screws on? Currently I am only getting something between ping pong ball and pea sized bubbles high in the body, and that does not seem right to me.
I can post pics later once I get home. I am really starting to wonder if I should have gone with RLSS or Aquamaxx. I love the look and feel of the Vertex but it has done nothing for filtration yet.
