Help w/ SPS Color - Lack of color - Please :)

My experience is that new frags almost always brown out before they color up. Some take months to color back up. As others have said, I would monitor all of your parameters to make sure nothing is swinging to bad, keep things stable and just give it time. It took my tank almost a year and a half until things started really coloring up and taking off.

Change one thing at a time and give it weeks to see how your tank is reacting. If you keep tinkering constantly you will not know which change is doing what. I know we all want beautifully colored corals instantly, but that is not the norm.

I am in agreeance with a few people on here that it needs time. i was told by numerous people not to bother with sps until the year mark.... pig headed i jumped in. lost a fair few frags over the time but now im over the year mark the sps are far better.

changing things every other day doesnt help also. in an ideal world where we dont look at the tank every day and we could only change one thing a month or something. tanks would look far better and thrive. try to just keep the parameters stable for a month and dont change lighting, flow or placement of the coral. another good idea with this is to take a photo now and then in a month take another to compare. you will be surprised at the difference

if theres no algae, cut the steralizer, if algae appears then put it back on. 12 hours wont tell you if turning the steralizer off helped or not. go atleast a week. Have you tested par? If the frags are midway through the tank, they will be under 6 inches of water. And the fixture will have little light degradation for the first foot it is above the tank. Your corals could be getting Par slammed. just a thought
