Help, What will eat this algae (photos)

0 phos since I added rowaphos 3 weeks ago. L. Turbos, Blue Leg, Scarlet Hermits, Sea Hair all won't eat it. I also have a refuge with a lot of chaeto where all this crap should be growing.

any suggestions? hopefully would like to get something that will eat it up that is reef safe, seems to only be growing in my frag tank. Don't think I want to try any sea urchins, disturb frags to much?

How about lettuce nudi's? on that closer shot, it appears there could be air bubbles in the hair. This might be a mix of two separate types of algae.

What is your frag support grille made out of? If it is regular styrene eggcrate it is leaching chemicals that promote hair algae. I kept battling it on my frag tank to the point of totally dismatling the frag tank several times and submerging pumps and eggrate in muriatic acid and then bleach and the algae will be back in a wek or so. Someone brought the eggcrate issue to my attention, I replaced it with acrylic eggcrate and have been algae free for two months already.

I don't really know, but I've pretty much seen that in every lfs frag tank that had egg crate in it.

even acrylic eggcrate?

the weird thing is my LFS has the other half of a case of black eggcrete (purchased from modernplastics.com) and has it in everyone of his frag tanks, probably for two years now and he never had any of this algae.

it looks like dead algae,i have it too.algae reproduce from spores.when the spores come in contact with nutrients they germinate, but the rowaphos quickly removes the phosphate starving it,they loose their chloroplasts which gives it the green color and turns it into a brownish mush.

Does anyone know is Lithonia Lighting White Eggcrate Louver 2GT is acrylic eggcrate or is it the bad kind? I pick it up from a home depot if that helps at all.

jdieck, did you really pay 200 bucks for a sheet of acrylic eggcrate? Or was it a package of them?

I am pretty sure its for a package of them.

you guys think a tang will take care of the algae? still waiting on lettuce nudi, I'll let you know if it eats it up.

Following along as well, any others sources of acrylic eggcrate? I'm not paying $140.00 a sheet!

no it reads $195.00 per carton (50 sheets). Shipping will probably be another $100 or close to it.

I am sure if you contact them they would sell smaller quantity though.

When I bought 20 qty 2' x 4' sheets of the black styrene my shipping was $70, its very heavy and big box.
