Ok, I don't have any pictures, but have a question. After seeing the 2 snails mating, the lights ended up going out (on schedule). I have moonlights that come on after the MH go off. I ended up seeing a very dark black thing come out of the woodworks. I'm not sure if it was there during the day, but it was apparant after the lights went out. It was a very black organism that looked like a snail withtout a shell. Does anyone have an idea as to what it could be? I couldn't snap a picture becuase my camera batteries died. Any help as to a possible organism would help so I could at least google it. Thanks for your help.

Google "fleshy limpit" and see if that's your guy.

I didn't see any pictures that fit the description. At first I thought a limpit, but I didn't see any shell. I will keep looking for it and hopefully get a picture soon. I want to make sure it is reef safe.

A fleshy limpit has a shell that is covered over by a mantle. How big was this thing?

Sounds like good old Stomatella to me.

GreenBean: Thank you. I do think it is a Stomatella. I have looked around to find a picture of a black Stomatella and found one on Melev's site. I have a few of the regular Stomatella's, but didn't know they come in black as well.

I don't think so. I will have to try and find him again tonight. I think it looked more like the Stomatella though. From what I have read both the Scutus and Stomatella are beneficial, so either way I should be ok. Is that correct?
