Help with a PH probe issue

Ok here is the situation, about 2 weeks ago i replaced my PH probe with a new one from Salty Critter, and it worked fine. About 4 days ago i looked at my display and it was stuck at 2.91!! I checked with a handheld and found it to be at 8.2. Un plugging the probe had no effect, so i contacted DA and they told me that the circuit for the PH probe may have locked up and to shut down the unit and short out the connector and then re power the unit. This sort of worked because when i shorted it and re powered it went to a different value but when i plugged in the probe it went right back to 2.91 again. So.....here is my question...Does anyone have a PH probe that is functional and could be borrowed for a 5 minute test? I want to determine if somehow my new probe went belly up on me, or i need to yank my entire controller setup apart and send it out for repairs. Thanks Mark

I've heard of temp probes going bad and causing stray voltage. You could pull it out and see if that cures your issue.

did a quick check, that wasn't it. Greg from AT offered to let me try a probe, but with the cost of gas i might as well buy one and keep it as a spare LOL

Do you have this hooked to your PC? My pH goes crazy when I hook to a USB without the ground loop isolator.

It isn't hooked up to the pc at the moment. I cut it loose when this showed up. I never had a problem with the ground loop issue. I figured it was mostly due to folks using laptops. Plus i ran dedicated circuits for both my pc and my reef so both circuits are well grounded to a common ground in the panel and a 4 foot copper rod in the ground outside.

I'm thinking its a bad probe, just gotta talk myself into spending another 45 bucks unless there is a warranty on the probes Dan sells. Never thought to look. Anybody know the answer to that?
