Help with Acrylic thickness please!!!!!!

Hello,

I am looking at a tank that is 180 gallons.

96" long, 24" wide, 18" tall.

What is the minimun acrylic thickness this tank should be made out of so it will not bow or crack?

It has two slim slots cut out in the back for "hang in the back filters" and 3 large openings in the center for tank access. There is a 6" perimeter all around the tank except where the two slim slots are towards the back of the tank.

I thank you very much for any help you may be able to provide me with!

Is there a particular reason you are interested in that size of tank?? It seems to me that it will look like a long skinny sliver of a tank. If your going 8' long, why not go 30" deep and 24 or 30" high?????

Being realistic, all tanks can bow - regardless of thickness used. Maybe just a technicality but still :) and cracking is usually *caused* by factors other than thickness itself though thickness can be a factor.
I'd look at 1/2" as a baseline thickness given the span.

HTH?
James

guessing it does

Thank you all very much for your help and suggestions!

The reason I want to go 18" deep is because I've had 24" and 30" deep tanks and it really is a pain in the neck to get to the bottom for maintanance.

Regular top, not euro brace. Any how, thank you all very much for your time and help!
