Help with AquaC Remora

I have had the AquaC Remora w/drain for about 5 months now, and it still seems to skim to wet. The usual is about 1/2 gal a day of fairly light skimmate. It just seems to wet. I want to know if anyone can tell me if I am missing something, I looked at the paperwork that came with the skimmer and there seems to be no adjustments. I do clean the skimmer every two weeks with just warm tap water. Any help would be appreciated.

on mine theres a knob on the out let and i adjust mine that way, looks like a water faucet handle, im not consitant on my top off so i have to adjust alot to get the bubbles going perfect, good luck

Had that skimmer, wound up selling it because of the same problem. Just slide the o-ring down as low as possible to get the collection cup as high as possible. Im not sure if theres any mods to make it skim dryer

Personally, I don't clean my Remora more than once every 4 months. You're supposed to let it develop a "film" on the inside that somehow helps with skimming. Aqua C recommends not to clean it very often as well. Just clean out the collection cup, including the tube that the bubbles come up, once every 1-3 days.

I emailed Aqua C about the wet skimmate, they said to expect it. Lots of skimmers will give you a very dry to concentrated skimmate, with this one its different. Expect wet skimmate.

stuccodude- I don't think you have the right skimmer. The only adjustments on these skimmers is the collection cup height, which adjusts the concentration of the skimmate ultimately. The lower the collection cup is, the clearer the skimmate, but the more skimmate it may pull out. Personally, mine is somewhere in the middle, and I get really dark skimmate that has the consistency of water.

Remember to keep your hands out of your tank as much as possible. Not only does it stress your inhabitants, but it also will render the skimmer less effective. The oils from your hands inhibits bubbles from forming on the surface and traveling up the riser tube and into the collection cup, thus equaling less skimmer performance.

You can try putting a ball valve in front of your skimmer pump and throttling it back a tad, this way less water enters the skimmer tube, and you have a lowered bubble column.

Thanks for the replys, I will try putting the collections cup a little higher and see what happens.

Thx again.
