I was told (my lfs) these were both reef safe. Sally lightfoot, and a camel shrimp. After reading up on them I really dont think they are. Anyone know about these or kept them? I dont want them eating any of my corals.
As far as I know, camel shrimp don't do anything good but scavange. If you want a shrimp like that, go with a peppermint - at least then if you take the risk it might eat aiptasia.
Sally lightfoot crabs get very large and they do live for a long time. Not sure why yours are dying.
I liked my emerald crab a lot till I got a small goby. Then I decided he was too large and made too much of a risk in my nano so I got rid of him. I have a pom pom crab now.
I've heard of sally lightfoots becoming terrors. Sorry I don't remember the specifics, but I do remember making the mental note to steer away from them.
I had a Sally that would try to jump and catch my fish when they would swim by. I had him a year and a half before I gave him away because he scared me. They are fine when little, but they get big and annoying.
I just found out there are several species of crab referred to as
Sally Light foots. I have a Nimble Spray Crab. Not supposed to be
particularly agressive. Anyone know about these crabs?
