Help with Dersa calm

I picked up my first clam yesterday. Got it home set it up no problems. Got up this morning and my eyelash blenny really loves the clam. It tipped it over and ate the soft tissue at the bottom of the clam. The blenny did not eat the inside only the soft tissue where the foot passes through. The foot is still ok and intact. I had no idea the blenny would nibble on that clam and I am just going to spear that blenny and get him out. I guess the question is will the clam recover, it is extending.

What would be the best way to catch the blenny, without a total tank dismantel.

was it the thread ( white and stringy ) or his foot ( curled and fleshy ) ? the clam probably dropped it from the stress of the move. as long as he dropped it and it wasn't removed he should make a full recovery. could you post a pic of the clam?

i'm not familiar with an 'eyelash' blenny, does it a have a more common name? the clam could have tipped himself over, mine do it from time to time as they move around the tank ( mostly just spin in place ). usually when a blenny goes after a clam he nips at the mantle not on the bottom. he may have been attracted by the smell of the discarded matter or new algae?

my LMB will sit on the scutes of my big maxima and watch me with his head resting on the mantle. i thought this was going to be a big problem but my clam doesn't even react ( touch wood )

Thanks for the reply. I moved teh clam around today. He is attached to a flat rock and is not moving now. I was watching the blenny and it swam down and nipped the matle. He is coming out but not until I get a day off as I am sure I will have to take down alot of rockwork. The fleshy area is growing back nicely.

The blenny is not a Lawn Mower. I will try and get a pic of it to post. I know it likes to nip at the clam. I think it is the Crown Blenny.
