Help with ID please

This thing is soft and doesnt appear to have any polyps I think its a type of algea???

I can't recall the name (( sure someone else will )), but it is a type of calciferous algae.

Some find them annoying, others don't. I personally didn't like them and would removed them.

In some causes they can spread fast, and other cases they don't, so I would keep an eye on them.

Man that picture scares me! I get these in my tank. they come in waves...just hope they dont come in a tidal wave...like that tank.
They dont seem to harm anything besides taking up realestate.

Ive had one strand for a while now it started small now its getting bigger I plan on plucking it sooner than later ......I dont want my tank lookin like that
