2 seconds on google would have given you the answer...

google/internet negates the need for any forums really..
"If" you know how to use it.. The information is already out there..
But yet... you are still here..why?

Would you like to donate your time to do a sticky post on everything one needs to know about setting up a saltwater tank?

Sure. Here it goes: "at least try to help yourself. Google works using simple and vague terms. 'Small white reef tank starfish hitchhiker'. BAM answer found. Pour yourself a drink, pat yourself on the back and enjoy your tank.

While I agree that literally everything can be found using Google and its very simple I just don't know what you are trying to accomplish nor why you even register for a forum like this if you are just going to complain that people aren't using Google..

I don't understand why anyone needs to know if its an aiptasia or not or how to cycle a tank or whatever.. I learn very well by Googling..
I always say I have a Masters in Google..
Tell me to build a Space Ship and I will.. via knowledge gained from Google,etc..

But
Some can Google.. some don't and some like the back and forth of a forum and actually enjoy the "virtual" conversation aspect of it..
Some don't mind getting a computer on the other end of a phone call and some like a real person to answer..

Just be happy.. Do what you do.. Don't complain when others don't do what you do..They aren't you.. Embrace differences.

All of the above is true, some things are simple answers and some aren't. But if you aren't willing to try to help yourself where is one going to end up?
This is much like raising a child. You as a parent don't expect to tie your child's shoes forever, you make them try and then help if needed. Being spoon fed forever doesn't help anyone.
There is even an expression old as dirt about this very thing-god helps he who helps himself.

Google is great for finding things. However Mcgyvr said some people enjoy banter with others on forums. Some as myself a beginner coming to a site like this which can be use for information can help build a base for identification of different things. I could good all i want "flat white star like organism on live rock in salt water aquarium" and could probably find what i was looking for along with things that are not correct. with this one picture you get a consensus from multiple "expert" or atleast people with alot of experience not be trying to match what i have to some other image.

Yes maybe taking on a hobby of a salt water tank when i have little time is not the best thing but i have time set to feed daily and water maintenance weekly. the rest of the time is with work and 2 young children so "sorry it affects you what i post about on here" maybe just avoid it yourself.

Forums like this are supposed to help beginners learn and enjoyment of all to the hobby. If you dont want to help beginners learn then avoid their post's but maybe you should also stop asking for help ID things yourself "Purple Base, green tentacle" sure maybe that is alot harder to ID but isnt the concept the same people that share a hobby looking for help from others.

+1

I just typed in "unknown starfish in marine tank" and there were all kinds of options to pursue. The other day I wanted to know what Captain America's shield was made out of so I punched in "What is Captain America's shield made out of" and BAM! It was almost too easy...

Learning how to learn is the first step in learning anything. Being given the answer without providing the tools to do it yourself is self destructive...give a man a fish....
