was staring at my tank and noticed a whit spot on the edge of my montipora. now it has grown to the sixe of a dime. I read that white band disease is when the skin get necrosis and peels away looked close and has small amount of alge on it now. my question is should i try and cut this section out and or frag the monti to prevent the loss of the colony. (it is a nice purple and is a farley large piece. I have never fraged and will need to read up and ask some help as well. no3-5ppm no2-0ppm ammonia-0ppm ph8.1-8.2 cal-450ppm flow can be better and i just got a new ph today.

I would cut it out. My personal opinion, I'm sure it's not the only solution, but the easiest and most permanent.

In addition to dosing calc, which should be in the range of 400 - 450, you also need to dose alkalinity to a range of 8-10. In order for calcium to be properly absorbed, alkalinity needs to be dosed as well.
